Act II |
In which the Pirate and Sloth argue about whether to go West, to lands unknown, or East, where the amnesiac Pirate swears his dealer lives, but the debate is interrupted by nothing: shrill, shrieking calm, stranding them far from any shore. Help arrives from an unlikely quarter, but will Pirate Blee have the courage to face a REALLY, REALLY ANNOYING storybook from his past? Also an evil witch is killing people trying to get the pirate's attention, which is in fine print because it is scary. (The chapter is one of the longest, so it is divided into two parts.)

"To everyone's astonishment, the chairwoman of the Cartographer's Guild broke a seven-year deadlock with her deciding vote to chart the final octant of the Nevernow Sea, even though the Eighth Argonaut was her own son, Peregrin Dim."

CHAPTER ONE
Abacadarium
The Three Sisters Escape Room Experience!
There is a sort of playground, just beyond... it has many wonders in it, though none of them quite gleam, still, believe me, it is an appealing place, which few would ever wish to leave. It is almost impossible to recollect the details and features of the attractions therein, but one of them, we know, is an adventure based on Anton Chekhov's baffling play about not going to Moscow. There are rumors that the mundane and provincial heroines of Chekhov's masterpiece are somehow beyond even their own comprehension -- that they are mask personalities, characters so boring, no witch- or monster-hunter would inquire too deeply or too long about their lives. Are they witches? See for yourself. |
